FAQs
How Targeted Gene Editing Works
Our Targeted Gene Editing platform introduces precise double-strand
breaks (DSBs) at specific genomic locations using AI-optimized guide
molecules. These breaks are repaired via homology-directed repair (HDR),
enabling the accurate insertion, deletion, or replacement of genetic
sequences.
Unlike traditional methods that primarily rely on non-homologous end
joining (NHEJ)—which often leads to small insertions or deletions
(indels)—our proprietary fertilization technique enhances HDR
efficiency, making it ideal for complex model generation such as
large-fragment knockin and conditional knockout.
Technology Workflow & Key Advantages
Feature | Conventional Gene Editing | Cyagen’s Targeted Gene Editing |
---|---|---|
Editing Stage | Zygote or ES cell (varies) | Direct embryo-stage editing |
Targeting Strategy | Random DSB repair (often NHEJ) | HDR-optimized with proprietary fertilization |
Precision | May result in unpredictable indels | High-precision insertion/deletion/mutation |
Model Complexity | Limited for large edits | Supports up to 15 kb knockin / 400 kb knockout |
Guide Molecule Design | Manual or vendor tools | AI-powered (via AlphaKnockout) |
Efficiency | Variable | Significantly enhanced via HDR boosting |
Applicable Species | Limited strains | Mouse (C57BL/6, FVB), Rat (SD, Wistar, others) |
