Overview of Gene Research
LMO1, also known as LIM domain only protein1, is a nuclear transcription coregulator. It has been implicated in the pathogenesis of multiple cancers. LMO1 may be involved in pathways like NF-κB pathway [2].

In neuroblastoma, certain LMO1 polymorphisms (rs110419, rs2168101, rs4758051, rs10840002) are associated with a decreased risk, while rs204938 shows a positive association with susceptibility [1]. In glioma, high LMO1 expression is linked to high tumor grade and poor prognosis, and LMO1 promotes tumor growth, invasion and migration through the LMO1-NGFR-NF-κB axis [2]. In Wilms tumor, the rs2168101 G>T polymorphism has a protective effect [3]. In zebrafish, LMO1 synergizes with MYCN to promote neuroblastoma initiation, progression and metastasis [4]. In colorectal cancer, LMO1 promotes cell proliferation and is a predictive marker for anti-EGFR therapy [5]. In lung cancer, LMO1 promotes cell proliferation, is correlated with neuroendocrine differentiation, and high LMO1 mRNA level predicts poor patient survival [6].

In conclusion, LMO1 plays an oncogenic role in multiple cancers including glioma, neuroblastoma, colorectal cancer and lung cancer. Its polymorphisms are associated with the risk of neuroblastoma and Wilms tumor. Research on LMO1 helps to understand cancer pathogenesis and may provide potential targets for cancer treatment.
