Overview of Gene Research
Tcp11l2, T-complex 11 like 2, is a protein-coding gene. It contains a serine-rich region in its N-terminal region. Although its full-scope function was unclear previously, studies have shown its importance in muscle-related biological processes.
In bovine skeletal muscle-derived satellite cells (MDSCs), TCP11L2 expression gradually increases during differentiation in vitro, peaking on Day 3, which is the migration and fusion stage. Using CRISPR/dCas9 gene-editing technology to modulate its expression, it was found that TCP11L2 promotes MDSC differentiation. Wound-healing assays demonstrated its role in promoting MDSC migration during differentiation. It is mainly distributed around microfilaments and microtubules, affects the expression of the actin-related protein 2/3 (ARP2/3) complex, and interacts with formin-like 2 (FMNL2). FMNL2 affects the expression of ARP2/3 to promote the migration of bovine MDSCs, and when FMNL2 is inhibited, the activities of TCP11L2 during MDSC differentiation and migration are blocked [1].
In conclusion, TCP11L2 is crucial for promoting the migration and differentiation of bovine skeletal muscle-derived satellite cells through its interaction with FMNL2. This research on TCP11L2 in the context of muscle-derived satellite cells provides insights into muscle development and related biological processes, potentially contributing to understanding muscle-related diseases or muscle-regeneration strategies.
