Overview of Gene Research
Mrgpre, short for MAS related GPR family member E, has been implicated in various biological processes. It may be involved in pain-associated pathways as it was identified as a target gene of miR-143-3p which is related to the regulation of pain responses in collagen-induced arthritis. In this context, its expression was significantly upregulated in the dorsal root ganglion of CIA mice, suggesting its role in chronic inflammatory and neuropathic pain [3].
Mrgpre has also been associated with several other health-related conditions. It was identified as one of the 21 druggable genes significantly associated with migraine, indicating its potential as a therapeutic target for migraine treatment [1]. Additionally, DNA methylation sites related to Mrgpre were found to be associated with waist circumference in Chinese monozygotic twins, BMI-related DNA methylation variation in Chinese monozygotic twins, and lung function in Latino children and youth with asthma [2,4,5].
In conclusion, Mrgpre appears to be involved in multiple biological processes related to pain, migraine, obesity-related traits, and lung function. Its identification in these contexts through various genetic association studies provides valuable insights into potential disease mechanisms and possible therapeutic targets, especially in migraine treatment.
