Overview of Gene Research
Layn, also known as Layilin, is an integral membrane hyaluronan receptor with a C-type lectin structural domain and is related to cell senescence [4]. It is involved in immune response pathways and has been associated with the regulation of T-cell function [3].
In hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), Layn is highly expressed in tumors compared to peri-tumors, and high levels are associated with poor overall survival. It negatively regulates the immune function of CD8+ T cells, leading to their dysfunction [1].
In colorectal cancer, Layn is upregulated, and its abnormal expression is correlated with metastasis, poor prognosis, and TAM infiltration. oHA activates Layn, promoting metastasis and CCL20 secretion through the NF-kB pathway [2].
In gastric and colon cancers, high Layn expression is associated with poor survival, and it is positively correlated with infiltrating levels of various immune cells [3].
In conclusion, Layn plays a significant role in immune-related biological processes and is closely associated with the prognosis and immune infiltration in multiple cancers, especially hepatocellular, colorectal, gastric, and colon cancers. Studies on Layn enhance our understanding of tumor-immune interactions and may provide new targets for cancer immunotherapy [1,2,3].
