Overview of Gene Research
Ccnb1, also known as cyclin B1, is a crucial protein in the cell cycle. It forms a complex with Cdk1, acting as an all-or-none switch for cell mitosis [5]. Ccnb1 is involved in the G2/M phase transition of the cell cycle, regulating DNA replication and cell division processes, which are of great biological importance for cell proliferation and organism development [4].
In various cancers, Ccnb1 has been shown to play significant roles. In breast cancer, its overexpression is strongly associated with a low survival rate, suggesting it could be a potential anti-breast cancer drug target and prognostic marker [1]. In hepatocellular carcinoma, Ccnb1 promotes the development by mediating DNA replication in the cell cycle, and its overexpression in tissues and serum is related to poor overall survival [4]. In ovarian carcinoma, Ccnb1 promotes cell proliferation, migration, and invasion, and is negatively regulated by miR-559 [2]. In Wilms tumor, Ccnb1 silencing significantly inhibits cell proliferation, migration, and invasion, and promotes apoptosis, indicating it is closely related to WT progression and prognosis [3].
In conclusion, Ccnb1 is essential for cell cycle regulation, especially in the G2/M phase transition. Its abnormal expression is associated with the development and prognosis of multiple cancers, including breast, liver, ovarian, and Wilms tumors. Understanding the function of Ccnb1 through various studies helps in exploring potential therapeutic strategies for these cancers.
