Overview of Gene Research
E2f7 is a recently discovered member of the E2F family. It has essential functions in embryonic development, angiogenesis, and the nervous system [1]. E2f7 is also involved in various signaling pathways, such as the PTEN/AKT/mTOR pathway, and is associated with the development of many diseases, especially cancers [2].

In glioblastoma, E2F7 is up-regulated, promoting cell proliferation, cell-cycle progression, cell metastasis, and tumorigenicity both in vitro and in vivo through the E2F7-EZH2 axis regulating the PTEN/AKT/mTOR signalling [2]. In hepatocellular carcinoma, E2F7 enhances tumor growth by preserving the SP1/SOX4/Anillin axis via repressing miRNA-383-5p transcription and promotes mTOR inhibitor resistance [3,4]. In endometrial cancer, the E2F7/RAD51AP1 axis inhibits cell sensitivity to 5-FU via the fatty acid metabolic pathway [5]. In nasopharyngeal carcinoma, VIRMA promotes tumorigenesis and metastasis by up-regulating E2F7 in an m6A-dependent manner [6]. In lung adenocarcinoma, E2F7 may serve as a potential prognostic biomarker and is up-regulated, potentially affecting tumorigenesis, invasion, and metastasis by regulating DNA repair, damage, and cell cycle processes [7].

In conclusion, E2F7 plays significant roles in multiple biological processes and is closely associated with the occurrence and development of various cancers. Studies on E2F7 in different cancer models have provided insights into its functions in disease, suggesting its potential as a therapeutic target for cancer treatment [1].
