Overview of Gene Research
Sec11c is a gene encoding a subunit related to the signal peptidase complex (SPC) in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER). SPC is essential for removing signal peptides from secretory pre-proteins, and Sec11c may play a role in this process, though its exact function within the complex is yet to be fully elucidated. It is also associated with various biological processes and diseases [1].
In lung adenocarcinoma, Sec11c is part of a 6-gene prognostic risk score model related to T-cell-mediated tumor killing. This model can screen prognosis of patients and those sensitive to immunotherapy [2].
In parathyroid adenoma, studies suggest that Sec11c may be an important factor contributing to its development, as its differential expression is noted in parathyroid adenomas compared to normal tissues [3,5].
In pigs, potential deleterious variation in the Sec11c gene was identified through analysis of homozygous-by-descent segments, and it was also associated with growth-related traits and lipid biosynthesis and fatty acid composition [4,6,7].
In colon cancer cells, exposure to PSP205 led to transcriptional upregulation of Sec11c, which is implicated in ER stress [8].
In summary, Sec11c appears to be involved in multiple biological processes and disease conditions. Its role in lung adenocarcinoma prognosis, parathyroid adenoma development, and pig-related traits provides insights into disease mechanisms and potential applications in different fields. The study of Sec11c helps in understanding the underlying molecular mechanisms related to these biological events and diseases.
