Detailed Document
Overview of Gene Research
Cyp2j8, a member of the cytochrome P450 CYP2J subfamily, is active in the metabolism of fatty acids like arachidonic acid (AA) and linoleic acid (LA) to generate bioactive compounds. These enzymes are involved in lipid metabolism pathways, which are crucial for various biological processes in the body. Genetic models, such as mouse models, are valuable for studying Cyp2j8's functions [1,2].
Cyp2j8 transcripts were detected in the kidney, liver, and brain, with protein expression confirmed in the kidney and brain (neuropil). In terms of tissue distribution, Cyp2j8 was found in various tissues, with the highest expression in the skin. In Cyp2j5 knockout mice, the expression of Cyp2j8 was analyzed to determine if there was compensatory regulation of other Cyp2j isoforms, but no specific information on Cyp2j8's compensatory role was given [1,2].
In conclusion, Cyp2j8 is involved in the metabolism of fatty acids to bioactive lipids in mouse tissues. Although the provided references did not directly show the contribution of Cyp2j8 KO mouse models to specific disease areas, the study of Cyp2j8 in mouse models helps understand its role in lipid metabolism-related biological processes [1,2].
