Overview of Gene Research
Fgfr1op2, also known as wound inducible transcript-3.0 (wit3.0), is a gene encoding a protein with coiled-coil domains [5]. It is associated with cytoskeleton networks, and may play roles in cell motility, wound closure, and is involved in certain genetic associations related to jawbone atrophy [3,4].
In a mouse model, the fusion gene FGFR1OP2-FGFR1 induced myeloid leukemia and T-cell lymphoma, suggesting its oncogenic potential [1]. In skeletal muscle, SRSF1 is crucial for regulating the splicing of Fgfr1op2. Disrupting SRSF1 in myoblasts leads to dysregulated splicing of Fgfr1op2, multipolar spindle formation, and cellular senescence, highlighting the importance of proper Fgfr1op2 splicing in muscle cell function [2].
In conclusion, Fgfr1op2 is involved in diverse biological processes such as cell-motility-related wound closure and has implications in muscle cell homeostasis. The FGFR1OP2-FGFR1 fusion gene in mouse models shows its significance in leukemia and lymphoma development, emphasizing its role in understanding these disease mechanisms [1,2,3,4].
