Detailed Document
Overview of Gene Research
Ankrd36, though its full functions are yet to be completely characterized in humans, has been associated with multiple biological processes. It shows the highest expression in bone marrow, especially in myeloid cells [2,3]. Its potential roles may involve various pathways, but research is still ongoing to precisely define these. Genetic models could be valuable in further exploring its functions.
ANKRD36 has been implicated in several disease conditions. In chronic myeloid leukemia (CML), specific mutations in ANKRD36 (c.1183_1184 delGC and c.1187_1188 dupTT) were detected exclusively in advanced-phase (accelerated phase and blast crisis) CML patients, suggesting it as a novel biomarker for early and late CML progression [2,3]. In hypertension, it is involved by altering the expression of ENaC genes [1]. In diabetic kidney disease, its expression was positively correlated with the triglyceride level and white blood cell count, indicating a possible role in disease progression through lipid metabolism and inflammation [4].
In conclusion, Ankrd36 appears to play important roles in multiple disease areas such as CML, hypertension, and diabetic kidney disease. Research on Ankrd36, especially through genetic models, can potentially lead to a better understanding of these diseases' mechanisms and may offer new avenues for diagnosis and treatment.
