Overview of Gene Research
Rftn1, also known as raftlin lipid raft linker 1, is involved in modulating lipid raft-related functions. Lipid rafts are important for cell signaling and membrane trafficking. Rftn1 may play a role in multiple biological processes through its association with lipid rafts and is likely to be involved in various signaling pathways [2,3].
In gastric cancer, knockdown of Rftn1 inhibited cell proliferation, induced cell cycle arrest in G0/G1 phase, and promoted apoptosis, while overexpression had the opposite effects. This was associated with the modulation of AKT/p38 signaling pathways, indicating its oncogenic role in gastric cancer [1].
In acute pancreatitis, the tryptophan metabolite norharman secreted by Lactobacillus could increase the transcription level of Rftn1 by inhibiting histone deacetylase (HDACs) activity, which in turn inhibited M1 macrophage activation and relieved multiple inflammatory responses [2].
In chronic suppurative otitis media, Rftn1 was highly expressed, and its inhibition reduced the inflammatory response and suppressed lipid raft formation. Lactobacillus could alleviate the development of the disease by reducing Rftn1 and TLR4 expression [3].
In conclusion, Rftn1 is significantly involved in the development of diseases such as gastric cancer, acute pancreatitis, and chronic suppurative otitis media. Studies on Rftn1, especially through gene knockdown experiments, have revealed its role in regulating cell proliferation, apoptosis, and inflammatory responses, providing potential prognostic and therapeutic targets for these diseases.
