Overview of Gene Research
Eml2, short for echinoderm microtubule-associated protein-like 2, is a gene with significant functions. It preferentially interacts with tyrosinated (Y -) microtubules through a WD40-repeat-based Y-microtubule interaction motif, influencing microtubule dynamics to increase stability [1]. In plants like Arabidopsis thaliana, EML2 forms a complex with GTE4, recognizing histone acetylation and H3K4 trimethylation to facilitate gene transcription [3].

In human diseases, EML2 has been studied in colon cancer. High EML2 expression in colon cancer tissues is associated with poor prognosis and altered immune cell infiltration, suggesting its potential as a prognostic biomarker [2]. Additionally, in familial nasopharyngeal carcinoma, EML2 was found to be enriched, along with other genes, in both NPC and other Epstein-Barr virus-associated cancers [4]. DNA methylation of EML2 in sporadic pituitary adenomas is inversely related to its transcript expression, indicating its role in tumor-related epigenetic regulation [5].

In summary, Eml2 is involved in microtubule regulation and gene transcription in different organisms. In human cancers such as colon cancer and nasopharyngeal carcinoma, as well as in pituitary adenomas, Eml2 shows potential associations with disease prognosis and epigenetic regulation. Research on Eml2 provides insights into disease mechanisms and possible biomarker identification.
