Overview of Gene Research
FCER1G, also known as Fc fragment of IgE receptor Ig, encodes the high-affinity IgE receptor gamma subunit, which plays a pivotal role in allergic inflammatory signaling, being closely associated with allergic reactions. It is an innate immunity gene involved in many immune-related pathways [3].
In cardiogenic stroke, FCER1G may serve as a novel immune-associated blood biomarker, helping distinguish cardioembolic stroke from non-cardioembolic stroke [1]. In rheumatoid arthritis, patients have lower levels of FCER1G gene methylation compared to controls, suggesting it could be a new potential epigenetic marker [2]. In pan-cancer, FCER1G can act as a prognostic marker, and its expression affects prognosis and correlates with immune cell infiltration, especially in kidney renal clear cell carcinoma and thyroid carcinoma [3]. In clear cell renal cell carcinoma, high expression of FCER1G is related to macrophage infiltration and T-cell suppression, and combining its expression with macrophage biomarker CD68 may be a promising postoperative prognostic index [4]. In multiple myeloma, the expression of FCER1G negatively correlates with myeloma progression, and high expression may be a favorable biomarker [5]. In female patients with Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada disease, down-regulation of FCER1G due to DNA hypermethylation is responsible for resistance to cyclosporin A plus corticosteroid, and chlorambucil can reverse this by inducing FCER1G expression [6].
In conclusion, FCER1G is crucial in immune-related processes and has significant implications in various diseases, including stroke, rheumatoid arthritis, multiple cancers, and autoimmune diseases. Its role in these diseases, as revealed through research, offers potential for new diagnostic, prognostic, and therapeutic strategies.
