Overview of Gene Research
Myo1f, an unconventional long-tailed class Ⅰ myosin, plays significant roles in immune cell functions, including motility, adhesion, and migration, and is involved in multiple immune-related pathways [2,3,7]. It also contributes to antifungal immunity, T-cell activation, and metabolism, and is associated with diseases such as fungal infections, peripheral T-cell lymphoma (PTCL), and allergic reactions [1,4,5]. Genetic models, especially KO/CKO mouse models, are valuable for studying its functions.
Myo1f-deficient mice are more susceptible to systemic Candida albicans infections, indicating its role in promoting antifungal immunity by regulating α-tubulin acetylation [1]. In γδT intraepithelial lymphocytes, Myo1f is essential for adhesion and migration. Its absence affects lymphocyte homing due to reduced CCR9 and α4β7 surface expression [2]. In mast cells, knockdown of Myo1F reduces degranulation induced by IgE cross-linking and MRGPRX2 stimulation, suggesting its role in allergic and pseudoallergic drug reactions [3]. T-cell-specific Myo1f knockout mice exhibit an increased tumor burden and attenuated experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE) severity due to impaired T-cell activation [4]. In Aspergillus fumigatus keratitis mouse models, knockdown of Myo1f reduces disease severity, decreases neutrophil and macrophage recruitment, and suppresses the MyD88/NF-κB signaling pathway [6].
In conclusion, Myo1f is crucial for immune cell-related functions and has implications in fungal infections, allergic responses, and PTCL. KO/CKO mouse models have been instrumental in revealing its role in these disease-related biological processes, providing insights into potential therapeutic strategies for these conditions.
