Overview of Gene Research
Ccdc110, also known as KM-HN-1, is a protein-coding gene. It contains a C-terminal coiled-coil domain (CCD), a nuclear localization signal sequence, and a leucine zipper motif. It was previously discovered as a member of the human cancer/testis antigen (CTA). Although its full function remains to be fully identified, it has been implicated in cell cycle progression [1].
In a study, Tet-inducible overexpression of CCDC110 protein in U2-OS osteosarcoma cells delayed the entry of the G2/M phase, suggesting its role in cell cycle regulation [1]. Additionally, in a largely Hispanic population, maternal diabetes was associated with differential methylation of CCDC110 in newborns, indicating a potential link between maternal conditions and fetal epigenetic changes related to Ccdc110 [2]. In a genome-wide analysis of northern Chinese twins, 2 SNPs located in CCDC110 were related to the FEV1/FVC ratio, suggesting its association with pulmonary function [3]. An exome-wide association study in the UK Biobank detected CCDC110 in a burden test for anxiety, indicating a possible role in anxiety-related genetics [4].
In conclusion, Ccdc110 appears to be involved in cell cycle progression, may be affected by maternal diabetes through epigenetic changes, and shows associations with pulmonary function and anxiety. Studies on Ccdc110 contribute to understanding biological processes related to cell cycle, fetal development, pulmonary function, and mental health [1,2,3,4].
