Overview of Gene Research
Il20rb, interleukin 20 receptor subunit beta, is a cell-surface receptor belonging to the IL-20 family. It is involved in multiple signaling pathways such as Jak2/Stat3, Pi3k/Akt, and JAK1/STAT3 [1,2,3]. IL20RB plays a role in various biological processes and is of great biological importance in diseases. Genetic models, especially knockout (KO) mouse models, are valuable for studying its function.
In a bleomycin-induced pulmonary fibrosis model, the absence of Il20rb alleviated pulmonary fibrosis progression, suggesting its profibrotic role through promoting profibrotic macrophage polarization [1]. In pancreatic cancer, knockdown of Il20RB reduced stemness and chemotherapy resistance both in vitro and in vivo [2]. Blocking IL-20RB with a neutralizing antibody significantly suppressed bone metastasis of lung cancer in a relevant model [3]. In clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC), low methylation-induced upregulation of Il20RB was associated with poor survival, and knockdown of Il20RB attenuated ccRCC cell proliferation [4,5]. In papillary renal cell carcinoma (PRCC), knockdown of Il20RB reduced cell proliferation, migration, and invasion [6].
In conclusion, Il20rb is a cytokine receptor subunit involved in multiple signaling pathways. KO/CKO mouse models and other loss-of-function experiments have revealed its significance in diseases like pulmonary fibrosis, pancreatic cancer, lung cancer bone metastasis, ccRCC, and PRCC. These studies help in understanding its biological functions and provide potential therapeutic targets for these diseases.
