Overview of Gene Research
Plcxd2, phosphatidylinositol specific phospholipase C X domain containing 2, is a gene whose function is currently being explored in relation to certain disease-associated pathways. While its exact biological function remains to be fully elucidated, studies suggest it may be involved in cell-related processes given its association with pathways that impact cell behaviors [1].
In gastric cancer, lncRNA ACTA2-AS1 acts as a competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) to bind with miR-378a-3p, antagonizing the inhibitory effect of miR-378a-3p on Plcxd2 expression. Knockdown of Plcxd2 rescues the inhibitory effect of ACTA2-AS1 overexpression on malignant behaviors of gastric cancer cells, indicating that Plcxd2 is involved in the regulation of gastric cancer cell viability, proliferation, migration, invasion, and epithelial-mesenchymal transition [1].
