Overview of Gene Research
Cfap95, also known as C9orf135, is a gene whose specific function, associated pathways, and overall biological importance are yet to be fully elucidated, but genetic models are valuable for its study.
A genome-wide association study (GWAS) on a Taiwanese COPD case-control cohort (5,442 cases and 17,681 controls) identified Cfap95 as a prominent COPD susceptibility locus. This discovery had not been reported in previous studies, suggesting its potential significance in the genetic basis of COPD [1].
In conclusion, Cfap95 has been newly identified as a potential susceptibility locus for COPD in the studied Taiwanese population. The findings from this GWAS study contribute to understanding the genetic factors in COPD, highlighting the importance of Cfap95 in the context of this disease and providing a basis for further functional studies, potentially including in vivo studies such as gene knockout (KO) or conditional knockout (CKO) mouse models to better define its role in the disease process.
