Overview of Gene Research
ACTL10, a member of the actin family, likely participates in fundamental cellular processes related to the cytoskeleton, though its exact function and associated pathways aren't comprehensively detailed in the provided references. Genetic models could potentially offer deeper insights into its role in normal and diseased states.
In cytogenetic normal acute myeloid leukemia (CN-AML), ACTL10 RNA high-expression and DNA methylation-low levels were found to be independent prognostic factors. High RNA expression and low DNA methylation of ACTL10 were associated with increased event-free survival (EFS) and overall survival (OS), and integrating these two parameters could more accurately predict the prognosis of CN-AML patients [1]. Also, in offspring conceived by assisted reproductive technologies (ART), DNA methylation levels at birth near ACTL10 were lower compared to those conceived without fertility treatment, and in male offspring from ART, CpGs related to ACTL10 were hypomethylated [2,3]. Additionally, ACTL10 was identified as one of the mRNAs in a competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) network in human cholangiocarcinoma, potentially playing a role in this cancer's prognosis [4].
In summary, ACTL10 appears to be involved in the prognosis of CN-AML and may have a role in the epigenetic changes associated with ART-conceived offspring and in cholangiocarcinoma through the ceRNA network. The study of ACTL10 using genetic models could further clarify its functions in these disease-related contexts.
