Overview of Gene Research
Ppp1r1c, also known as thymocyte cyclic AMP-regulated phosphoprotein (TARPP), is involved in multiple biological processes. It has been associated with neural outgrowth [2], and may play a role in cell cycle regulation [3]. In the context of neural circuits, it is among the genes upregulated during the regeneration of afferent neurons to cochlear hair cells [2]. In human Wharton's Jelly mesenchymal stem cells, its expression pattern is closely related to negative cell cycle regulation and cell cycle arrest processes [3].
In glioblastoma, miR-182 targets Ppp1r1c. The inverse correlation between Ppp1r1c protein/RNA expression and miR-182 expression was observed in glioblastoma patients and U87-MG cells. Ectopic expression of miR-182 mimic decreased proliferation, migration, and invasion in U87-MG cells, and both miR-182 mimic and siRNA targeting Ppp1r1c induced temozolomide susceptibility, indicating that high Ppp1r1c expression may contribute to decreased susceptibility to TMZ in GBM patients [1].
In summary, Ppp1r1c is involved in neural outgrowth and cell cycle-related processes. In glioblastoma, its regulation by miR-182 has implications for disease progression and drug susceptibility, highlighting the importance of understanding Ppp1r1c functions in disease-related research [1,2,3].
