Overview of Gene Research
Adgrg7, also known as GPR128, is an adhesion G protein-coupled receptor. Adhesion GPCRs are involved in various physiological processes, and Adgrg7 may play a role in processes such as reduced body weight, gastrointestinal function, and was recently associated with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis [3]. It has also been identified as an estrogen-responsive gene regulated by estrogen receptor ERα and SP1 in scoliotic osteoblasts and other cell lines [3].

In a study of SARS-CoV-2 infection, the mRNA levels of Adgrg7 were significantly increased in SARS-CoV-2-infected lung adenocarcinoma Calu-3 cells, and down-regulation of Adgrg7 led to a decrease in the amount of newly released SARS-CoV-2 and its infectivity, suggesting its possible role in the viral infection process [2]. In breast cancer, high expression of Adgrg7 was significantly correlated with poor overall survival of patients, indicating its potential association with breast cancer development [5]. Also, a rare TFG-Adgrg7 fusion was detected in mesothelioma of the tunica vaginalis testis, though its significance in this disease is yet to be fully understood [1]. A polymorphic gene fusion TFG-Adgrg7 was identified in the GTEx cohort, with distinct patterns across different ancestry groups [4].

In conclusion, Adgrg7 is an adhesion G protein-coupled receptor with potential functions in multiple physiological and disease-related processes, including viral infection, breast cancer, and potentially mesothelioma. Studies on Adgrg7 help in understanding the complex biological processes and disease mechanisms, which may provide new directions for related disease treatment and prevention.
