Overview of Gene Research
Fbxo7, also known as F-box protein 7, is a unit in the SKP1-Cullin1-F-box (SCF) SCFFBXO7 E3 ligase composite. It functions in recognizing substrates and is involved in regulating various cellular processes such as the proteasome complex, mitophagy, the cell cycle, cell proliferation, and germ cell differentiation [3].
In hepatocellular carcinoma, FBXO7 binds PRMT1, induces its ubiquitination and proteosomal degradation, suppressing serine synthesis and tumor growth [1]. In glioblastoma, FBXO7 confers mesenchymal properties and chemoresistance by controlling Rbfox2-mediated alternative splicing [2]. In endometrial carcinoma, FBXO7 acts as a tumor suppressor by inhibiting INF2-associated mitochondrial division through ubiquitination and degradation of INF2 [4].
In conclusion, Fbxo7 plays crucial roles in multiple biological processes and disease conditions, especially in cancer. Its functions as an E3 ligase and in other regulatory mechanisms are significant in understanding the pathogenesis of diseases, and research on Fbxo7 using gene knockout or conditional knockout models helps reveal its role in specific disease areas such as cancer.
