Overview of Gene Research
Rab11fip3, also known as RAB11 family-interacting protein 3, is involved in endocytosis and endocytic recycling pathways [4]. It associates with recycling endosomes, playing a role in trafficking vesicles, which is crucial for maintaining cellular homeostasis and proper function of various cell-related processes [5].
In gastric cancer, the IKZF4/NONO-RAB11FIP3 axis promotes immune evasion by facilitating PD-L1 endosome recycling. Silencing of RAB11FIP3 promotes T-cell proliferation and cytotoxicity towards gastric cancer cells, inhibits tumor immune evasion in mice by increasing CD8+ T-cell infiltration into the tumor microenvironment [1].
In breast cancer, RAB11FIP3 combines with Eps15 homology domain 1 to promote the endocytosis recycling of phosphorylated epithelial growth factor receptor, regulating breast cancer progression [2].
In papillary thyroid cancer, RAB11FIP3, along with other key proteins in endocytotic recycling, promotes tumorigenesis through the regulation of epidermal growth factor receptor transport [3].
In conclusion, Rab11fip3 has significant functions in endocytic recycling processes. Its role in diseases such as gastric, breast, and papillary thyroid cancers has been revealed through functional studies. Understanding the functions of Rab11fip3 in these disease models can provide potential therapeutic targets for these cancers.
