Overview of Gene Research
Igflr1, also known as transmembrane protein 149 (TMEM149), is a member of the tumor necrosis factor receptor family [4]. It binds to insulin growth factor-like (IGFL) proteins, such as murine mIGFL and human IGFL1, which are induced in inflammatory skin conditions [4]. The connection between mIGFL and IGFLR1 suggests that it may influence T cell biology within inflammatory skin conditions [4].
In cancer research, IGFLR1 has emerged as a biomarker with potential prognostic and immunomodulatory roles. In colorectal cancer, it is highly expressed in CXCL13 + BHLHE40 + TH1-like cells and CD8 + exhausted T cells, and possesses co-stimulatory functions [1]. In clear cell renal cell cancer (ccRCC), upregulated IGFLR1 is detected compared with para-cancer tissues, significantly affecting the prognosis. It is also positively correlated with the abundance of myeloid derived suppressor cells [2]. In stage II and III colorectal cancer, IGFLR1 is an independent prognostic factor, and its expression is associated with immune cell infiltration [3].
In conclusion, IGFLR1 is involved in immune-related processes, especially in the context of T cell biology in cancer and inflammatory skin conditions. Its role as a prognostic biomarker in multiple cancers, such as ccRCC and colorectal cancer, highlights its potential significance in understanding disease progression and immune-tumor interactions. The study of IGFLR1 in these contexts may provide new insights into cancer prognosis and immunotherapy strategies.
