Overview of Gene Research
Ddx47, also known as DEAD-box helicase 47, is involved in RNA processing, cell division, and R-loop resolution. It plays a crucial role in maintaining genome stability and tissue homeostasis, and is associated with various biological processes and diseases [2,3,4]. It is part of the small subunit processome (SSUP) which mediates 18S rRNA biogenesis and is important for translational control in stem cells [5].
In lung adenocarcinoma, high expression of Ddx47 predicts a poor prognosis, and its knockdown reduces cell proliferation and migration in vitro, confirming its cancer-promoting effect [1]. In Locusta migratoria, knockdown of LmDDX47 (the ortholog of Ddx47) leads to midgut atrophy, a reduction in the number of regenerative and columnar cells, and increased cell death, indicating its role in maintaining midgut homeostasis [4]. It has also been identified as an R-loop resolvase, protecting cells from harmful R loops [3].
