Overview of Gene Research
HAUS1, also known as HAUS Augmin-like complex subunit 1, is a key component of the augmin complex, which is crucial for branched microtubule nucleation during mitotic spindle assembly [4]. This process is directly regulated by the Ran-GTP pathway, where importins and Ran-GTP control the microtubule binding of the augmin complex [4].

In various cancers, HAUS1 shows differential expression patterns. In hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), it is highly expressed, leading to a poor prognosis, and is associated with clinical stage, pathological grade, and AFP. It also has diagnostic value and is an independent prognostic factor. Additionally, it is linked to immune cell infiltration and immune checkpoints in HCC, and may generate significant therapeutic results when combined with anti-CTLA4 and anti-CD274 treatment [1].

In prostate adenocarcinoma (PRAD), HAUS1 is downregulated compared to normal tissues, and can serve as an independent indicator for overall survival prognosis. It is closely related to the tumor microenvironment, immune cell infiltration levels, immune checkpoints, and immune cell pathways, as well as the immunotherapeutic response of patients [2].

In glioma, an elevated expression of HAUS1 is observed, associated with poorer patient survival, unfavorable clinical characteristics, and is an independent predictor. It is also associated with several tumour-infiltrating immune cells [3].

In male infertility, spermatozoa from the poor early embryo development subgroup display mutations impacting centrosome integrity related to HAUS1 [5].

In conclusion, HAUS1 is essential for microtubule-related processes like spindle assembly. Its dysregulation is implicated in multiple cancer types and male infertility, highlighting its significance in understanding disease mechanisms. The study of HAUS1 in these disease models provides insights into potential therapeutic targets and prognostic biomarkers.
