Overview of Gene Research
Snord59a is a small nucleolar RNA with a C/D motif. Small nucleolar RNAs are noncoding RNAs known to regulate ribosomal RNA assembly and function [2].
In the context of anaphylaxis, the gene Snord59a was found to be significantly up-regulated in severe anaphylaxis compared to healthy controls, suggesting its potential involvement in the pathogenesis of anaphylaxis [1].
In human prostaspheres, exposure to bisphenol A (BPA) epigenetically regulated Snord59a via histone modification, and its expression was reduced in prostate cancer compared with adjacent normal tissue [2].
In summary, Snord59a is involved in ribosomal RNA-related functions. Its up-regulation in anaphylaxis and down-regulation in prostate cancer due to BPA-induced histone modification suggest its importance in these disease conditions. The study of Snord59a provides insights into the pathogenesis of anaphylaxis and the epigenetic regulation in prostate cancer [1,2].
