Overview of Gene Research
Hsh2d, also known as hematopoietic SH2 domain containing, is involved in multiple biological processes. It may participate in inflammatory/immune-related biological processes, as several studies indicate its association with pathways relevant to these functions [3].
In acute lymphoblastic leukaemia, specifically T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (T-ALL), Hsh2d expression is downregulated compared to B-cell ALL. Overexpression of Hsh2d in HuT-78 cells inhibits CD28-mediated IL-2 activation, and its expression is necessary for HuT-78 cells to be resistant to methotrexate (MTX), suggesting its importance in T-ALL's resistance to MTX [1]. In colon cancer cells, Hsh2d is highly upregulated in doxorubicin-surviving proliferative cells and is correlated with U-ISGF3-related genes, potentially contributing to chemoresistance [2].
In murine experimental colitis, macrophages with p38α deficiency show upregulated Hsh2d in colon tissues, indicating its role in the immune process during colitis [4]. In cervical squamous cell carcinoma, Hsh2d is part of an mRNA-lncRNA signature related to immune infiltration, which can predict patient survival [5].
In summary, Hsh2d is associated with immune-related functions and plays important roles in various disease conditions such as leukaemia, colon cancer, colitis, and cervical squamous cell carcinoma. Its involvement in drug resistance and immune-related signatures provides potential research targets for understanding disease mechanisms and developing new treatment strategies.
