Overview of Gene Research
Zswim2, Zinc finger SWIM-type containing 2, is a testis-specific E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase. Ubiquitination is a crucial post-translational modification for protein homeostasis, and Zswim2 likely functions in related regulatory pathways [1].
Using the CRISPR/Cas9 system to generate Zswim2 knockout (KO) mice, it was found that male fertility, male reproductive organ, and sperm-associated parameters were largely unaffected in Zswim2 KO males. This indicates that Zswim2 may not be essential for these aspects of male reproduction [1].
