Overview of Gene Research
Tmem71, Transmembrane protein 71, is implicated in multiple cellular physiological functions. It has been associated with immune and inflammatory responses, cell proliferation, cell migration, chemotaxis, and response to drugs [2]. It may be involved in the JAK2/STAT3 and NLRP3/Caspase-1/GSDMD signaling pathways [1,3].
In glioma, high expression of Tmem71 is correlated with poor prognosis, and it may function as an oncogene, promoting the growth and motility of glioma cells by activating the JAK2/STAT3 pathway and promoting CEBPD expression [1,2]. In nasopharyngeal carcinoma, Tmem71 is downregulated in tumor tissues, and its overexpression could exert anticancer effects via the NLRP3/caspase-1/GSDMD pathway [3]. In breast cancer, Tmem71 is downregulated, and its overexpression suppresses cell proliferation and migration [4].
In conclusion, Tmem71 plays a significant role in the development and progression of various cancers, with its abnormal expression being linked to tumor prognosis and cell behavior. The study of Tmem71 in these cancer models provides insights into its function in disease, potentially guiding the development of new therapeutic strategies.
