Overview of Gene Research
Snx20, a member of the sorting nexin family of proteins, plays a crucial role in the regulation of innate immunity [1]. Sorting nexins are involved in the functional organization of the endo-lysosomal network, which determines the fate of endocytosed transmembrane proteins, associated proteins, and lipids [5]. Snx20, along with Snx21, belongs to the SNX-PXB proteins, and they may function as endosome-associated scaffolds [5,6].
In lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD), Snx20 is downregulated in most cases and is associated with poor prognosis, being an independent prognostic factor [1,4]. High Snx20 expression is accompanied by a better immune microenvironment and survival, and it is significantly associated with various tumor-infiltrating immune cells, widely involved in regulating immune molecules and affecting immune infiltration in the tumor microenvironment [1].
In low-grade glioma (LGG), Snx20 is up-regulated, and its higher expression is associated with adverse clinical outcomes. DNA hypomethylation leads to its overexpression in LGG, and it is mainly involved in immune response and inflammatory response-related signaling pathways, with its increased expression correlated with infiltration levels of various immune cells and immune checkpoint [2].
In advanced, refractory lung adenocarcinoma treated with PD-1 inhibitors, SNX20 expression can be a predictor for therapeutic decision-making and treatment response assessment, and there is a positive correlation between SNX20 and PD-L1 [3].
In conclusion, Snx20 is significantly associated with immune cell infiltration and prognosis in various cancers such as LUAD and LGG. Its role in immune-related processes and potential as a biomarker and therapeutic target in these diseases has been revealed through studies. Understanding Snx20's function contributes to a better understanding of cancer development mechanisms and may provide new strategies for cancer immunotherapy and prognosis prediction [1,2,3,4].
