Detailed Document
Overview of Gene Research
E030018B13Rik is one of the candidate genes identified in a study on zinc transporter 7-knockout (znt7-KO) mice. While its exact function, associated pathways, and overall biological importance are yet to be fully characterized, the study aimed to explore its potential role in certain biological processes [1].
In a genome-wide mapping study using male F2 znt7-KO mice and their wild-type littermates in a mixed background, a quantitative trait locus (QTL) on chromosome 7 was found to have a synergistic effect on body weight gain and fat deposit with the znt7-null mutation. By creating subcongenic znt7-KO mouse strains, a sub-QTL for body weight was mapped on chromosome 7. E030018B13Rik, along with Htatip2, Nipa1, and Atp10a, was identified as a candidate gene within this sub-QTL using quantitative RT-PCR and cSNP detection [1].
In conclusion, through the znt7-KO mouse model, E030018B13Rik was identified as a potential candidate gene in the genetic determinates of body weight and glucose metabolism. This finding lays a foundation for future functional studies of E030018B13Rik in metabolic diseases such as obesity and type 2 diabetes [1].
