Overview of Gene Research
Immunoglobulin binding protein 1 (IGBP1), an important signal transduction regulator, is associated with multiple biological functions. It is a regulatory subunit of protein phosphatase 2A (Pp2a), sustaining mTOR signaling, and is involved in pathways like the PI3K/AKT pathway [2,4].
IGBP1 has implications in various diseases. In esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC), its high expression correlates with poor prognosis and is positively associated with T classification and vital status, suggesting it may be a tumor promoter [1]. In lupus nephritis (LN), serum and urine IGBP1 levels are elevated, correlating with proteinuria, renal SLEDAI, and the pathologic activity index, making it a valid biomarker for detecting active nephritis [3,6]. In lung adenocarcinoma, miR-3941 can target IGBP1, suppressing its expression and cell proliferation, indicating miR-3941's role in early-stage lung adenocarcinoma progression [5].
In conclusion, IGBP1 is a crucial molecule involved in multiple biological processes and is significantly associated with diseases like ESCC, LN, and lung adenocarcinoma. Its role as a biomarker and its involvement in disease-related pathways make it an important target for further research, potentially providing new insights for disease diagnosis and treatment.
