Introduction

The development of effective analgesics remains challenging due to the complexity and heterogeneity of pain. Robust preclinical models that accurately capture relevant human target biology, disease-associated phenotypes, and pharmacological responses are therefore essential for improving translational confidence.
This webinar will explore an integrated approach to pain research. We will demonstrate how combining genetically engineered humanized rodent models with disease-specific pain paradigms and multidimensional behavioral phenotyping can significantly de-risk your preclinical pipeline.

Summary

Using selected examples from Cyagen’s pain portfolio, we will highlight specific target-humanized models, including NaV1.7, NaV1.8, CALCA, and CALCRL. A key case study will focus on the humanized hSCN10A SD rat, illustrating how genetic, transcript-level, and protein-level characterization integrates directly with disease-relevant pain modeling and pharmacological evaluation.
Furthermore, we will examine Cyagen’s disease-specific neuropathic pain models—such as SNL, CCI, and chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN)—alongside behavioral endpoints spanning mechanical, thermal, cold, and functional assessments.
