Strain Description

The Ckm gene (creatine kinase, muscle) encodes muscle-type creatine kinase (CKM), a cellular energy metabolism enzyme primarily localized in the cytoplasm. Ckm is highly expressed in the skeletal muscle and myocardium of adult mice, and relatively high expression can also be detected in tissues such as the mammary gland. CKM catalyzes the reversible transfer of a phosphate group between phosphocreatine and ADP, promoting the rapid regeneration of ATP and maintaining the energy supply-demand balance during muscle contraction. Therefore, Ckm is an important gene for studying muscle energy metabolism and other muscle cell-related biological processes [1-2].
The Ckm-iCre-Tg mouse is a mouse model constructed by integrating the "Mouse Ckm promoter-Kozak-iCre-WPRE-BGH pA" cassette into the mouse genome via transgenic (TG) technology. iCre (improved Cre) is a codon-optimized form of Cre recombinase; in this document, "Cre recombinase" refers to iCre. When Ckm-iCre-Tg mice are crossed with mice containing loxP sites, the offspring are expected to undergo Cre recombinase-mediated sequence recombination between loxP sites in Ckm-positive cells.

Strain Strategy

The "Mouse Ckm promoter-Kozak-iCre-WPRE-BGH pA" cassette was integrated into the mouse genome via transgenic (TG) technology.
