Strain Description
The ChR2_H134R/EYFP gene is conditionally overexpressed at the Rosa26 locus in this model. Upstream of ChR2_H134R/EYFP, there is a loxP-Stop-loxP element that blocks the expression of ChR2_H134R/EYFP. After Cre recombination, offspring will express the improved ChR2_H134R/EYFP fusion protein in tissues where Cre is expressed. These mice can be used for optogenetic studies, where blue light illumination (450-490 nm) can rapidly activate excitable cells in vivo.
