Foxp1, short for forkhead box protein P1, is a transcription factor encoding gene crucial for the early development of multiple organ systems, including the brain [5]. In ovarian aging, Foxp1 declines with age and inhibits CDKN1A transcription. Silencing Foxp1 in mice leads to premature ovarian insufficiency, suggesting its role as a regulator of ovarian aging [1].
In atherosclerosis, endothelial-specific Foxp1 knockout (Foxp1ECKO) in ApoeKO mice shows increased atherosclerotic lesion formation, while endothelial-specific Foxp1 overexpression reduces it. Foxp1 directly regulates endothelial inflammasome components, acting as a gatekeeper of vessel inflammation [2].
