Overview of Gene Research
Zzz3, also known as zinc finger ZZ-type containing 3, is involved in multiple biological processes. It is a subunit of the Ada-two-A-containing (ATAC) histone acetyltransferase complex, and its ZZ-type zinc finger domain acts as a histone H3 reader, modulating ATAC-mediated histone acetylation and gene activation [3]. It also plays a role in pathways related to cell proliferation, ribosome biogenesis, and translation, and is associated with processes in human embryonic stem cells (ESCs) homeostasis and immune-related interactions in diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) [1,2].
In human ESCs, knockdown of Zzz3 negatively impacts ribosome biogenesis, translation, and mTOR signaling, leading to a significant reduction in cell proliferation without affecting pluripotency, suggesting ESCs enter a "dormant-like" state [1]. In DLBCL, Zzz3 upregulates the transcription of CD70 by binding to its super-enhancer, and DLBCL cells inhibit the proliferation and killing of infiltrating NK cells by regulating the Zzz3/CD70 axis [2]. A bioinformatics analysis also suggested that Zzz3 may be related to cell proliferation in non-union skeletal fractures [4].
In conclusion, Zzz3 is essential in processes like histone acetylation, gene activation, and cell proliferation. Its study in models such as human ESCs and DLBCL cell-NK cell interactions has provided insights into stem cell homeostasis and cancer-immune cell relationships, respectively.
