Detailed Document
Overview of Gene Research
CELF2, also known as CUGBP ELAV-like family number 2, is an RNA-binding protein. It plays crucial roles in processes such as RNA splicing. It is involved in various biological pathways, and its dysregulation is associated with multiple diseases. Gene knockout (KO) and conditional knockout (CKO) mouse models are valuable for studying its functions [1-6].
In hematopoietic system KO mouse models, Celf2 deficiency enhanced HSCs self-renewal and myeloid cell differentiation, accelerating myeloid cell transformation and AML development through the FAT10-mTORC1 axis [1].
In Celf2 Nestin-Cre knockout mice, heterozygous knockout led to autism-like behaviors, with an underdeveloped cerebral cortex, reduced dendritic spine density, and affected synaptic maturation [2].
In conclusion, Celf2 is essential for normal biological processes, especially in hematopoiesis and neurodevelopment. KO and CKO mouse models have revealed its role in acute leukemia and autism-like behaviors, providing potential therapeutic targets for myeloid leukemia and insights into the mechanisms of autism-related disorders.
