Overview of Gene Research
Zfp326, also known as zinc finger protein 326, is a gene whose functions seem to be related to multiple biological processes. It contains zinc-finger motifs and may function as a transcriptional regulator [4,5]. It has been implicated in pathways related to neurodegeneration and antidepressant treatment response [1,2].
In the context of neurodegeneration, lncRNA NR_030777 alleviates paraquat-induced neurotoxicity by regulating Zfp326, suggesting Zfp326 is involved in paraquat-induced neurodegenerative disorders like Parkinson's disease (PD) [1,3]. In studies related to antidepressant treatment, the mouse Zfp326 gene shows a linkage signal related to the anti-immobility effect of fluoxetine in the forced swim test, and its human homologue ZNF326 has SNPs associated with antidepressant treatment response in major depressive disorder patients [2].
In conclusion, Zfp326 plays important roles in neurodegeneration-related processes and antidepressant treatment response. Studies, especially those using mouse models, have revealed its involvement in these biological functions, providing insights into potential mechanisms underlying PD and antidepressant treatment, which may contribute to the development of new treatment strategies for these diseases.
