Overview of Gene Research
MELTF, also known as melanotransferrin, MFI2, or CD228, is a gene with various functions. It has been associated with multiple biological processes and pathways, such as retinol metabolism and extracellular matrix (ECM) receptor interaction. In different cancers, it may play roles in cancer progression, and its expression levels can influence prognosis [3,5].

In lung adenocarcinoma, E2F1 binds to MELTF and activates it, promoting cancer progression via the Notch signaling pathway [2]. In osteosarcoma, the lncRNA MELTF-AS1, which is abnormally expressed, upregulates MMP14 and promotes metastasis, potentially through interaction with miR-485-5p [1]. In non-small cell lung cancer, MELTF-AS1 promotes tumorigenesis by driving phase separation of YBX1 to activate ANXA8 [4]. In endometrial epithelium regeneration, PRP up-regulates MELTF, promoting endometrium regeneration and inhibiting cell death via regulating ferroptosis, autophagy, and pyroptosis [3]. In gastric cancer, MELTF may serve as a biomarker as its expression affects cell invasion and prognosis [5].

In conclusion, MELTF is involved in cancer-related processes like metastasis and proliferation, as well as tissue regeneration. Research on MELTF, including through studies of its related lncRNAs, has revealed its significance in diseases such as lung adenocarcinoma, osteosarcoma, non-small cell lung cancer, endometrial regeneration-related conditions, and gastric cancer. Understanding MELTF can potentially offer new insights into disease mechanisms and treatment strategies.
