Overview of Gene Research
SCAF11, also known as SR-related CTD-associated factor 11, may be involved in multiple biological processes. It has been associated with pathways like oxidative phosphorylation, antimicrobial humoral response, and immunoglobulin complex, and is related to inflammation and immune-related signaling pathways [1].
In breast cancer, knocking down SCAF11 inhibited cell viability and colony-formation, and its expression was significantly correlated with diverse tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes and immune checkpoints, suggesting it plays potential roles in regulating the immune microenvironment [1].
In hepatocellular carcinoma, suppression of SCAF11 expression inhibited the proliferation, attenuated the migration and invasion, and induced apoptosis of liver cancer cell lines, indicating it promotes liver cancer progression [2].
In endometriosis, SCAF11 was one of the four hub genes in a gene module related to the ubiquitin-mediated proteolysis pathway, which may regulate the endometrium cell cycle and affect the development of endometriosis [3].
In conclusion, SCAF11 is implicated in the regulation of immune microenvironments in breast cancer and the progression of liver cancer, as well as in the development of endometriosis. Functional studies, especially those using loss-of-function experiments, have revealed its roles in these disease conditions, providing insights into potential therapeutic targets related to these diseases.
