Overview of Gene Research
Nup210, also known as Nucleoporin 210 or gp210, is a component of the nuclear pore complex (NPC) in eukaryotic cells. The NPC is crucial for regulating nucleoplasmic transport, transcription, and genomic integrity [1]. Nup210's functions are associated with these processes, and its study in genetic models like KO mouse models has provided insights into its role in various biological processes and diseases.

In KO mouse models, ablation of Nup210 leads to delayed muscle repair after injury, an increased percentage of centrally nucleated fibers, abnormal fiber type distribution with age, and reduced muscle endurance during voluntary running, indicating its importance in maintaining skeletal muscle integrity and function [2]. In breast cancer mouse models, Nup210 depletion suppresses lung metastasis as it acts as a metastasis susceptibility gene and cellular mechanosensor [3]. In addition, Nup210 knockout mice show altered CD4/CD8 T cell ratios, suggesting a T cell-intrinsic function in peripheral T cell homeostasis [4].

In conclusion, Nup210 plays essential roles in multiple biological processes, including muscle repair, muscle integrity maintenance, T cell homeostasis, and cancer metastasis. Studies using KO mouse models have been crucial in revealing these functions, providing valuable insights into its role in related disease areas such as muscle-related disorders and cancer.
