Overview of Gene Research
Adcy10, also known as soluble adenylyl cyclase (sAC), is an enzyme involved in intracellular signaling. It plays a crucial role in generating 3'⁻5'-cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP), a key second messenger. cAMP signaling is compartmentalized, and Adcy10 contributes to the formation of unique intracellular cAMP microdomains that control various physiological and pathological processes [2].

In lung adenocarcinoma, endogenous glutamate determines ferroptosis sensitivity via Adcy10-dependent YAP suppression. When system XC-is inhibited, accumulated glutamate suppresses YAP through Adcy10, influencing ferroptosis sensitivity [1]. In sperm, Adcy10 is the predominant adenylate cyclase, and proper sAC activity and cAMP supply are crucial for sperm motility regulation. A 2-bp deletion in Adcy10 coding region leads to severe recessive asthenozoospermia [3]. In Leydig cells, Adcy10 inhibitors can inhibit LH-stimulated cAMP accumulation and progesterone level [4].

In conclusion, Adcy10 is essential for regulating multiple biological processes, including ferroptosis sensitivity in lung adenocarcinoma, sperm motility, and Leydig cell function. The study of Adcy10 knockout or conditional knockout mouse models, though not all references specifically mention them, would further clarify its role in these processes and potentially provide insights into related disease areas such as male infertility and certain cancers [1,3,4].
