Overview of Gene Research
Pom121, or nuclear pore membrane protein 121, is a part of the nuclear pore complex. It is involved in regulating nucleocytoplasmic transport, which is crucial for maintaining normal cellular functions, and participates in various signaling pathways like PI3K/AKT and TGF-β/SMAD [1,3]. Abnormal Pom121 expression has been associated with many diseases, highlighting its biological importance [2]. Genetic models can be valuable in further exploring its functions.

In a POM121fl/fl Lyzm-Cre+ mouse model, higher susceptibility to LPS-induced acute lung injury and more severe tissue inflammation were observed compared to control mice. This indicates that POM121 inhibits the macrophage inflammatory response by repressing the NF-κB signal pathway via inhibition of phosphorylated P65 nuclear accumulation [2].

In conclusion, Pom121 is essential for nucleocytoplasmic transport and is involved in multiple signaling pathways. The POM121 -deficient mouse model has provided insights into its role in macrophage-mediated inflammation, suggesting its potential significance in inflammatory disease research.
