Overview of Gene Research
F5, also known as Coagulation factor V, is a key regulator of blood coagulation. It participates in the blood coagulation pathway, which is of great importance for maintaining hemostasis in the body [2].
In breast cancer cells, F5 is an estrogen-responsive gene. Estrogen stimulation leads to a time-and dose-dependent increase in F5 messenger RNA and FV protein in ERα-positive MCF-7 cells, and high F5 levels in ER-positive breast tumors are associated with increased relapse-free survival of breast cancer patients [2].
In gastric cancer, TCGA data shows that F5 mRNA levels are significantly upregulated in gastric cancer samples, and high levels of F5 mRNA correlate with short overall survival, suggesting F5 may be a potential prognostic biomarker [1]. Additionally, F5 has been identified as a diagnostic marker of severe asthma, and is associated with multiple immune cell infiltrates [3].
In conclusion, F5 plays a crucial role in blood coagulation. Its abnormal expression is related to various diseases such as breast cancer, gastric cancer, and severe asthma. Understanding the function of F5 through these studies helps to better understand the pathogenesis of related diseases, providing potential directions for disease diagnosis, prognosis assessment, and treatment.
