Overview of Gene Research
Or4d5 is a gene, though specific key aliases, its essential function, associated pathways and overall biological importance remain relatively unknown. However, genes of the Or (olfactory receptor) family are generally involved in the detection of odorants and play a role in the olfactory sensory system [1].
The study aimed to generate a genomic atlas of human adrenal and gonad development. It was found that the developing human ovary expresses distinct subsets of genes, including Or4d5, but enrichment for established biological pathways was limited [1].
In conclusion, while the exact biological function of Or4d5 is yet to be fully elucidated, its expression in the developing human ovary as revealed by the genomic atlas study indicates its potential significance in ovarian development. Future functional studies, such as gene knockout or conditional knockout in mouse models, could potentially shed more light on its role in specific biological processes or disease conditions related to the ovary.
