Overview of Gene Research
Tektl1 is a gene enriched in male reproductive tissues. However, its exact function, associated pathways, and key aliases remain unknown. Genetic models, such as knockout mouse models, are valuable tools to explore its gene function [1].
A study using the Nuclease technology system to generate gene-deficient mice found that Tektl1-deficient mice exhibited normal fertility in natural breeding experiments. This indicates that Tektl1 is not essential for male fertility [1].
In conclusion, through the use of KO mouse models, it has been revealed that Tektl1, despite its enrichment in male reproductive tissues, is dispensable for male fertility. This finding helps in the efficient allocation of research resources in the study of male reproductive biology, preventing duplication of efforts to generate knockout mice for genes without an apparent male-fertility-related phenotype [1].
