Overview of Gene Research
Rftn1, also known as raftlin lipid raft linker 1, is associated with lipid rafts and may play a role in regulating related signaling pathways. Lipid rafts are important for cell-cell communication, signal transduction, and immune responses, suggesting that Rftn1 has significance in these biological processes [2,3].
In gastric cancer, knockdown of Rftn1 inhibited cell proliferation, induced cell cycle arrest in G0/G1 phase, and promoted apoptosis, while overexpression had the opposite effects. This was related to the modulation of AKT/p38 signaling pathways, indicating its oncogenic role in gastric cancer [1]. In acute pancreatitis, the tryptophan metabolite norharman could increase Rftn1 transcription by inhibiting histone deacetylase (HDACs) activity, which in turn inhibited M1 macrophage activation to relieve inflammatory responses [2]. In chronic suppurative otitis media, Rftn1 was highly expressed, and its inhibition reduced the inflammatory response and suppressed lipid raft formation, with Lactobacillus attenuating the disease by reducing Rftn1 and TLR4 expression [3].
In conclusion, Rftn1 is involved in multiple disease-related biological processes. Its study in disease models such as gastric cancer, acute pancreatitis, and chronic suppurative otitis media has revealed its roles in cell proliferation, apoptosis, and inflammation regulation, providing potential prognostic and therapeutic implications for these diseases.
